UW-Madison Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Elect New Officers

Steven Thomas is 2006-2007 president.

The Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) Board of Directors has elected Steven Thomas as president for 2006–2007. Thomas is a district manager for Monsanto Dairy and resides in Onalaska. He earned his BS degree in animal science from UW- Madison in 1989. He replaces Jennifer Vincent, who is now immediate past president.

Liz Henry of Dane has been elected as vice-president. She works part-time as a faculty associate in the Renk Agribusiness Institute on the UW-Madison campus. She received her BS degree in 1983 and an MBA in 1996. Rick Daluge, of Madison, serves as secretary-treasurer of the organization.

Also newly elected to the WALSAA Board in September are Gena Cooper of Madison, John Schroeder of Antigo, Merle Richter of Bloomer, and Tom Albrecht of Shawano. Other continuing directors include, Jennifer Vincent, Sun Prairie; Jessica Agnew, Baraboo; Robert Pofahl, Middleton; David Nelson, Madison; Steven Diericks, Colma; Jon Anderson, Pewaukee; Brian Fluno, Vernon Hills, Ill; Chad Ryan, Lomira; and Grant Schneider, Rhinelander.

WALSAA is a 2000-member association of alumni of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at UW- Madison. In addition to sponsoring alumni events such as the Football Fire-Up and Short Course Reunion, the association awards over $20,000 in scholarships to students annually and also sponsors the CALS Ambassador student group that represents the College at various activities.
