United Cooperative, Pulaski Chase Cooperative Make Plans to Merge

Members may attend informational meetings and vote.

In mid-October, the United Cooperative Board of Directors, based in Beaver Dam, signed a letter of intent to allow a wholly-owned subsidiary of United Cooperative to pursue a merger with Pulaski Chase Cooperative, Pulaski.

"Pulaski Chase Cooperative came to us this fall looking for a cooperative partner to work with so they could provide their patron members with an expanded supply of products and services," noted David Cramer, United Cooperative president and chief executive officer. "This merger will allow us to offer more advanced services in the central-Wisconsin area to accommodate the ever-changing needs of the agriculture industry."

STATE OF THE ART: This is United Cooperative's South Beaver Dam state-of-the-art grain and agronomy location.

In the coming months, there will be several meetings in the Pulaski Chase Cooperative trade area to inform employees and patrons about the proposed merger. Once the informational meetings are complete, ballots will be mailed to the Pulaski Chase Cooperative voting patron members. If approved, the merger will take effect in early 2012.

"Pulaski Chase Cooperative has feed, grain, agronomy, and energy departments as well as a hardware store and automotive and machinery parts business; it's obvious they have a true passion for the future of the agriculture industry like we do here at United Cooperative," added Cramer. Pulaski Chase Cooperative recorded $22 million in sales during their previous fiscal year, ending July 31, 2011.

Formed in 1936, United Cooperative is a full-service cooperative with feed, grain, agronomy, fuel, lubricant, and propane locations throughout south-central Wisconsin. They documented $325 million in sales in 2010 and employ about 500 full-time, part-time, and seasonal Wisconsin citizens. United Cooperative locations can be found in Baraboo, Beaver Dam, Deerfield, Hartford, Horicon, Hustisford, Iron Ridge, Johnson Creek, Mayville, Pickett, Poynette, Prairie du Sac, Reedsburg, Ripon, Rock Springs, Sauk City, South Beaver Dam, Watertown, and Wyocena.
